Halloween Cookies

We just finished our Halloween Cookies. Trevor was aghast at the idea of taking some to our friends on the street. Why on earth would we give our cookies away?!?!?
His first question was. " Is it their Birthday?"
Now it is time to clean all the sprinkles off the floor!!

The Mystery of the War-mare

Trevor has developed a healthy fear of all the monsters in our house lately. Last week, when Brett was out of town, we seemed to hit a peak. Trevor kept saying he was worried about the war-mare coming out of the floor in his playroom to get him. At one point he successfully freaked Shelly out by saying he could hear the war-mare coming and hid under his table and refused to come out!! This went on for several days with Shelly trying to figure out what on earth he was talking about and why it was so scary. Finally, in complete expiration Trevor says, “Mom the warm A-I-R!! “ Finger spelling A-I-R in sign language for extra emphasis!!

What!! So it finally makes sense. The mornings have been cool and our very old, noisy, rumbly furnace and been coming on. Earlier in the week Shelly had commented on the warm air under the table the playroom, where the vent is, while we were sitting there eating breakfast. When the house is quiet you can hear the furnace kick on and does make noise.

So we immediately embarked on a complete tour of our heating system. Lucky for us the whole heating system is exposed in the garage. We thoroughly inspected all the ducts, intake, vents, giant green furnace and thermostat. All seems to be well now. No more worries about the war-mare!

Trevor will be glad when Halloween and all the other spooky stuff is gone.

An Alligator

Trevor told a neighbor yesterday that he is going to be an alligator for Halloween!! This from the kid who refused to put on a costume and went trick or treating in his clothes last year.
We need to get busy.

Farmer's Market

Here is Trevor on the way home from the Farmer's Market on Saturday. The walnut people had a really cool walnut cracking machine. Unfortunately we didn't need our walnuts cracked since they are for the parrots. We had a blast watching other people get there bags of walnuts cracked.

Before leaving for the Market on Saturday morning Trevor said.. "Mom, take a deep breath... you will feel better" After a long crazy week, it was time to calm down!

Melt Down...

Trevor and Shelly were having a difference of opinion on Thursday. After much frustration and many tears Trevor says " Mom, I want to get away from you!!" Shelly says, " OK, why don't you go lay down on your bed until you feel better." Trevor says OK and heads down the hall only to come right back and say... "Mom will you come with me?"
After a good snuggle on the bed all was well!
